Today’s love story on How We Met is about a couple, who knows how to add a spark in a mundane relationship. Here it goes:
Sitting on a beautiful breezy verandah overlooking the meandering Ganges, Soumya Dasgupta and her husband had the hardest time recalling how they actually met. After a lot of back and forth ideas, they zeroed it down to that one day- the day which changed their lives forever.
Memories came flooding in. The train of thoughts, once invoked, brought back vivid memories, leaving you nostalgic and sentimental.
He still remembers it: he was attending a rock concert, completely enjoying himself whereas she was there because of a friend. She looked at this intelligent looking guy, wearing a black T-shirt drenched in sweat. He kept on banging his head to the music and she kept on looking at him while he did so. After the concert, she ended up talking to him.
It took them ten years after that day before they could call themselves husband and wife. They did experience a lot of ups and downs in their journey but they preferred to enjoy it rather than getting scared of it.
They did not fall in love at first sight. It wasn’t like any romantic movie, where their eyes met and they knew that they were the ‘one’ for each other. It took them another five years and a distance of around 8,000 miles!
They had a long distance relationship for five years before they planned to tie the knot. It taught them so much about each other and more so about themselves. It taught them to value what they had and the importance of an understanding companion.
In a world filled with cynicism, Soumya’s naiveté is what keeps Sreya refreshed. His ability to laugh even when life throws a curve ball at him makes her realize that life is much better if you keep your humor with you. Indeed, he taught her the best lessons of her life.
In the end, they finally got their PHDs and shortly after that, they got hitched. Now, they can’t wait for the next phase of life and to find out what this world has to offer to them!
