Irish lad, Niall Horan, stunned the music world with something really, really amazing this morning. The 23-year-old dropped his first solo track, ‘This Town’, becoming the first (if you don’t count Zayn) of the band to go solo!
The One Direction lad surprised the whole lot of Directioners earlier today after announcing the solo track that he’d been keeping under the wrap for months. The super amazing track has been produced by GregKurstin; getting that man on board is an achievement in itself! Greg is the same person who is behind Adele’s huge successful comeback track, Hello.
Directioners went into a complete melt down after Radio Disney posted on its official website: “SURPRISE! Listen to Radio Disney RIGHT NOW to hear@NiallOfficial’s brand new song #ThisTown! And stay tuned to hear from Niall! (sic)”
In no time, #ThisTown was trending on Twitter. The pop star, Niall Horan, then himself tweeted about the track and told his fans on Twitter: “Been workin in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with u guys. thank you for always being there.”

The Irish rockstar has also now released his performance on VEVO, where he can be seen strumming his guitar. Niall has co-written the track with Jamie Scott, Mike Needle and Daniel Bryer.
A source told The Sun: “Niall has been building up to this moment for months and was keeping it top secret. He didn’t want lots of hype around his music and instead wanted something aimed directly at the One Direction fans.”
The source further added that releasing his solo before the other 1D stars shows Niall’s intent. He’s taking his solo career very seriously and music is very important to him, which is why he’s making sure to work with best song-writers.
