While we drink classic lattes on daily basis, wouldn’t it be fun to switch it for something a little different every once in a while? The newest latte trend is a ‘Blue Smurf’ latte!
Yes, it’s time to drop the idea of turmeric or rainbow lattes because the ‘smurf’ latte is trending. This latest addition in the list of hot beverages, made from espresso and steamed milk, is available at a vegan cafe known as Match Mylkbar.
Match Mylkbar, is in the Australian city of Melbourne. The bright blue color of the smurf latte is what attracts its customers. And a teaspoon of E3, a live blue algae powder, is what gives the latte its unique color.
This coffee has some other quirky ingredients too, such as ginger, coconut milk and lemon! You must be thinking that are we really talking about a coffee?
Talking to a website, the co-owner of the cafe, Nic Davidson said:
‘People think it’s going to be a bubble gummy sweet taste. You can definitely taste the agave and the lemon. It’s a quite sweet and ‘soury’ kind of taste … but it’s a difficult to explain taste — everyone thinks it’s different.’
If you go through the menu of the cafe, you will see “smurf coffee” in the list. The cafe has gone viral on Instagram.
‘It’s been crazy. Over the weekend we’ve sold well over 100 of the lattes, and considering we’re a small 40-seat cafe, it’s a lot. It’s like our beetroot and mushroom lattes. We even have people who don’t speak English ordering by just pointing to the photo on Instagram.’
So, what are you waiting for? To all the readers there in Melbourne, this Match Mylkbar is a place to go and don’t forget to try ‘smurf latte’.
